Somerville Youth Film Festival at the Somerville Theatre

The screening room at the Somerville Theatre was packed for the Somerville Youth Film Festival on September 24. The Festival was presented by Somerville Community Access Television’s (SCAT) youth media program, Next Generation Producers, Home Inc., Somerville Cares About Prevention, Somerville High School and the Community Action Agency of Somerville.

The festival included news packages and TV programs that were produced in summer programs by students of the Next Generation Producers and the Home Inc. classes at Somerville High School. As they created their video projects, students learned the complete process of media production, including research, scriptwriting, camera and audio skills, and digital editing.

Greg Rego is no stanger to fame as he has appeared on Jam'n 94.5 FM, performed at Art Beat 2008 and Somerville's Youth Peace Conference.
Greg Rego is 19 years old born and raises in Somerville and a young underground hip hop artist.
He started writing when he was 14 years old.
At the age of 15 he got more into hip hop and inspirational music. He then hooked up with Joseph Soosa, who is currently working with on there first mix tape called: War of the Worlds: Volume 1.
The production is done by JMS Beats and features Drunken Sailor Productions.

Prescription drug abuse is rapidly increasing among teens and this is a poem encouraging teens to discard any thoughts of abusing prescriptions. The poem was written by one of our members of the 3 City Collaboration: Derrick.

3CYC@SCAT, the youth component of the 3-City Collaborative, is a partnership between the Collaborative and Somerville Community Access Television. Its charge is to develop and publish educational prevention media targeting youth on popular outlets, such as MySpace, Facebook, YouTube and Bloggers.
